Marionnaud selects Equadis for product data acquisition from its partners and aims for 100% product data quality
The leading perfume and cosmetics retailer is rolling out Equadis’ product data syndication and management solution to manage data flows from nearly 300 international suppliers via the GDSN standard across four European markets.
By choosing Equadis to collect and centralize its product data, Marionnaud is taking a decisive step forward in its European omnichannel strategy. Owned by AS Watson Group, the world’s leading distributor of health and beauty products, the brand has over 700 stores across the continent. It has entrusted the Swiss platform with the automated product data management, via GDSN[1], of nearly 300 international suppliers across four markets: France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria.

The beauty industry: a demanding arena for product data
The beauty industry is one of the most demanding sectors when it comes to product data management. Each product reference involves hundreds of attributes: ingredients, regulatory information, visuals, marketing messages and translations, all of which must be shared accurately between suppliers and distribution channels, both in-store and online. The figures speak for themselves:
- The volume of data required to bring products to market is increasing by more than 15% a year (Accenture Make-The-Leap, 2022);
- Missing or incorrect data directly results in a missed conversion, a product return or a loss of consumer trust.
The challenges associated with the growing volume of data, increasing regulatory pressure, and ever-rising consumer expectations are leading industry players to fully demonstrate the direct impact of product data quality on sales. It is now established as a strategic lever to drive commercial performance, accelerate time-to-market for new products, and reduce the operational workload of teams.
A pioneer in adopting the GDSN more than eight years ago, Marionnaud France was the first selective retail chain to implement this standard in order to structure and streamline its product data exchanges. Building on this experience, the group is now pursuing its digitalization strategy at the European level by rolling out dematerialized data exchanges across its entire supplier network.
Against this backdrop, Marionnaud has selected Equadis’ PDS (Product Data Syndication) and product data management solution. Specifically, the platform supports:
- Suppliers onboarding across all partner sizes, with data acquisition approaches adapted to their level of digital maturity;
- Acquisition, centralization and automation of data flows from nearly 300 international suppliers;
- Standardization of information in line with GDSN standards and matrix formats;
- Homogeneous, high-quality and compliant data distribution across all retail channels, both in-store and online, across four european markets.
The rollout will begin in Switzerland, before expanding to Italy and Austria in the second half of 2026, and then to France starting in January 2027.
This approach enables Marionnaud to ensure reliable, harmonized and compliant product data, centralized within a single platform, while delivering significant productivity gains for teams. More complete and consistent product information directly enhances the customer experience in-store and online, and acts as a lever for purchase intent.
Acceleration in the European cosmetics market: 360° value creation
This decision confirms Equadis’ recognized leadership in product data and GDSN flows in the Cosmetics and Beauty sector, and reflects the growing trust of retailers, supported by a solid and well-established client base in this industry.
«Marionnaud is driving an ambitious omnichannel transformation at European scale, and we are providing strong and structured support to ensure its success. Managing product data from nearly 300 suppliers across four markets simultaneously is exactly the kind of challenge our solution was designed for: absorbing complexity upstream so that our clients can focus on their core business and deliver on their promises, both to their suppliers and end customers.» says Pascal Laik, CEO of Equadis.
Emilio Leon, CEO at Marionnaud concludes « The transformation of our model today relies on our ability to ensure the reliability and digitization of product data. As early adopters of GDSN within selective distribution, we are continuing this ambition by further strengthening the digitalization of our data exchanges across Europe. Partnering with an expert such as Equadis enables us to accelerate this momentum, ensuring centralized and consistent information management, which is essential to support our growth and our ambitions in the European cosmetics market.»
In a sector where the multiplication of sales channels (physical stores, e-commerce sites, marketplaces and social media) has increased the complexity of product data management, leading beauty retailers are seeking to consolidate their data infrastructure around partners capable of operating at an international scale.
For Equadis, for which beauty and parapharmacy are a strategic priority, this partnership with Marionnaud illustrates a broader trend: a platform that is progressively establishing itself as the reference partner for selective perfumery retailers in Europe, both on the retailer and manufacturer sides.
